Nepal Police said the missing-person figures remain preliminary and could change as rescue teams reach isolated areas, restore communication links and identify victims.

The Americans are among 644 Nepali and foreign nationals who remain unaccounted for, according to the latest Nepal Police bulletin. India has the largest number of missing foreign nationals, with 178 citizens unaccounted for, followed by 65 Americans, 53 Ukrainians, 35 Australians and 33 British nationals. The police said 127 Nepalis also remain missing.

The confirmed death toll has risen to 389, Nepal Police said. Chitwan District reported the highest number of deaths, with 137 bodies recovered, followed by Nawalparasi East with 87, Dhading with 33, Gorkha with 32, Nuwakot and Tanahun with 28 each, Nawalparasi West with 27 and Rasuwa with 17.

Authorities said 8,348 police personnel have been deployed for search, rescue and recovery operations. Twenty-eight Nepal Police officers remain out of contact in flood-affected areas, the agency said.

Nepal Police reported that 466 people have been rescued or treated for injuries. Rasuwa recorded 289 rescues or injuries, followed by Nuwakot with 90, Kathmandu with 84 and Dhading with three.

Communications and transportation infrastructure in the affected areas, including locations near the Nepal-Tibet border, have been severely disrupted, complicating efforts to locate missing people and verify their conditions.

Among those listed as missing are Ramesh Sharma, 65, and Neelam Kumari Sharma, 64, both U.S. citizens, according to a social media appeal posted by their daughter, Radhika Sharma.

Radhika Sharma said she had been unable to reach her parents after flooding near the Nepal-Tibet/China border. She appealed for information from people with contacts in Nepal, Gyirong in Tibet, area hospitals, rescue operations, government agencies and news organizations.

NepYork reviewed the Nepal Police list and found both Ramesh Sharma and Neelam Kumari Sharma listed among the missing U.S. citizens.

The U.S. Embassy in Kathmandu has not publicly released the identities of missing Americans. U.S. officials have urged American citizens in Nepal who are safe to contact family members and follow instructions from local authorities as emergency operations continue.
