On May 31, 2025, the Nepali community in New Jersey will gather to celebrate the Nepal Day Festival, a heartfelt event designed to keep the spirit of Nepal alive despite the miles that separate its people from their homeland.
This festival aims to bridge the geographical gap with emotional closeness, introducing Nepal’s rich cultural heritage, art, tourism, and traditional attire to the local Fair Lawn community. It also serves as an opportunity to educate younger generations about their roots, ensuring that the vibrant traditions of Nepal continue to thrive among the diaspora, the organizer informed.
According to the organizer, the festival will feature an exciting lineup of activities that highlight the essence of Nepali culture. Attendees can look forward to traditional Nepali music and dance performances that showcase the country’s artistic diversity, along with a delicious exhibition of authentic Nepali cuisine that promises to tantalize taste buds. For families, there will be sports and recreational activities tailored for both children and adults.
The event will also include interactive sessions with renowned trekking guides and mountaineers, offering a glimpse into Nepal’s adventurous spirit, as well as a photo exhibition featuring the nation’s major pilgrimage sites and breathtaking landscapes. Cultural processions with dances representing various ethnic groups will further enrich the experience.
Rajendra Shrestha, a key member of the organizing committee, shared his enthusiasm for the event, emphasizing its significance. “We are thrilled to unite the Nepali community scattered across New Jersey and beyond while sharing our cultural heritage with local residents,” he said.
“This festival is a vital medium for keeping our shared traditions alive, and it’s an honor to host it here in Fair Lawn.” Shrestha urged everyone to participate, inviting attendees to bring their families, friends, and neighbors to join in the celebration and make it a resounding success.
The Nepal Day Festival will take place at Memorial Park in Fair Lawn, New Jersey, from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM on May 31, 2025.
