Nepal welcomed over 720,000 tourists in the first eight months of 2024, with a notable number of visitors from the United States. According to the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), 720,334 tourists visited Nepal from January to August 2024, marking an 8.3 percent increase in foreign arrivals.
In August alone, 5,614 tourists from the US explored Nepal, contributing to the total of 72,719 visitors that month. This is an increase from the 67,153 tourists recorded in August 2023.
NTB Director Maniraj Lamichhane highlighted the growing trend of foreign tourists, attributing it to effective tourism promotion programs. He expressed optimism about attracting even more visitors from various countries, including neighboring nations.
The data revealed that the highest number of tourists in August came from India (25,832), followed by China (6,614), the US (5,614), Sri Lanka (4,851), and Bangladesh (3,077).
