Nepal’s House of Representatives election drew congratulations from the United States, India, and China, with all three nations praising the peaceful conduct of the polls held under challenging circumstances.
The U.S. Embassy in Nepal issued a statement lauding the Nepali people for the democratic exercise. “Congratulations to the people of Nepal on holding elections. We look forward to working with the incoming government on shared goals of prosperity and security for both our countries,” the embassy stated.
India’s Ministry of External Affairs also welcomed the “successful conduct of elections and the exercise of the democratic mandate” by Nepali citizens, noting their enthusiastic participation.
Official Spokesperson Shri Randhir Jaiswal congratulated Prime Minister Sushila Karki, the government, the people of Nepal, and all stakeholders “for successfully holding these polls, which took place against the backdrop of exceptional circumstances last year.”
Jaiswal highlighted India’s longstanding support for peace, progress, and stability in Nepal, including logistical supplies provided at the government’s request. “We look forward to working with the new Government of Nepal to further build on the robust, multifaceted ties between our two countries and peoples for mutual benefit,” he added from New Delhi.
Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Zhang Maoming echoed these sentiments, congratulating Nepal on a “peaceful, orderly, and smooth House of Representatives election.”
In his message, Zhang said: “Congratulations on such a peaceful, orderly and smooth HoR election in Nepal! Warm congratulations to the Nepali people on exercising their democratic rights. Great efforts by the Nepali authorities and people from all sectors for this election must be fully noted. Wish Nepal stability, development and prosperity, and the Nepali people happiness, health and success! China always stands with Nepal!”
