A cool morning breeze swept through the air. The serene atmosphere of the greenery-filled Adventure Park was calm yet brimming with excitement. Runners, dressed in colorful athletic gear, stood with energetic smiles and a sense of confidence, readying themselves for the race. This was no ordinary morning; it was the morning of the “Inspired to Run” 5K race—not just a sporting event, but a truly inspirational community celebration.
Held at Adventure Park in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, the race officially began at 9 a.m. Participants had already arrived well before the start. Organizers had arranged hot coffee, water, and light snacks, providing energy and warmth in the chilly weather. Amid casual conversations, well-wishes, and lively music, the atmosphere felt vibrant and alive.
Over 70 runners participated in the event. They came from diverse age groups, professions, and backgrounds, including students, parents, fitness enthusiasts, and competitive athletes. This diversity became the race’s greatest strength. The event was divided into various age categories, ensuring fair competition and recognition for all participants.
In the men’s category, Zachary Gibson claimed first place with an impressive finish time of 21 minutes and 24 seconds. In the women’s category, Makayla Reichel finished in 25 minutes and 26 seconds, securing the top position. Other winners also performed admirably in their respective age groups, earning trophies, medals, and well-deserved recognition.

The performances of Nepali-speaking participants such as Saugat Adhikari, Niraj Nepal, Bhumika Poudel Dunham, Sujan Adhikari, and Ivanka Gurung were particularly noteworthy. Saugat Adhikari, who placed second in the men’s overall category, shared his joy at participating and expressed his belief that such events encourage youth and contribute to talent development.
According to Nilhari Bhandari, founding president of Inspired to Explore, such activities boost self-confidence, reduce mental stress, and strengthen community bonds. “Running is not just a competition,” said Bhandari. “It’s a practice of self-discipline, dedication, and positive thinking. When we unite for a common goal, it generates energy, inspiration, and a spirit of collaboration in the community.”
He also expressed his belief that these programs particularly inspire young people to become active, responsible, and health-conscious.

Following the race, an award ceremony was held where winners received trophies and certificates. Participants enjoyed a memorable experience through photo sessions, group interactions, and expressions of gratitude. For many, the race was an opportunity to achieve personal milestones; some improved their time, some completed their first-ever 5K, and some simply overcame personal challenges.
This event not only emphasized physical fitness but also highlighted mental resilience, community unity, and self-motivation. The efforts of the local community, running clubs, volunteers, and organizers made the event both successful and meaningful.
“The “Inspired to Run” event is a journey where every step leaves a mark of discipline, dedication, and positive thinking, delivering the message that life is also a race, and every effort moves us forward,” said Bhandari.
