ICE Detains Indian National, Brother of Driver and Passenger in Fatal Florida Turnpike Crash That Killed Three

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has arrested Harneet Singh, a 25-year-old individual from India, following a fatal crash on the Florida Turnpike. The incident, which occurred on August 12, 2025, in St. Lucie County, involved an 18-wheeler in which Singh was a passenger.

According to the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, the driver of the truck, identified as Harjinder Singh, attempted an illegal U-turn through an “Official Use Only” access point. This maneuver reportedly blocked all lanes of the highway, resulting in a collision that killed three people: a 37-year-old woman from Pompano Beach, a 54-year-old man from Miami, and a 30-year-old man from Florida City.

Harjinder Singh, the driver and Harneet’s brother, has been charged with three counts of vehicular homicide. ICE reports that Harneet Singh was encountered by Border Patrol on May 15, 2023, and later released. He was arrested by ICE on August 18 and is being held in custody pending removal proceedings.

“Three innocent people were killed in Florida because Gavin Newsom’s California Department of Motor Vehicles issued an illegal alien a Commercial Driver’s License—this state of governance is asinine,” said DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin. “How many more innocent people must die before Gavin Newsom stops playing games with the safety of the American public? We pray for the victims and their families. Secretary Noem and DHS are working around the clock to protect the public and get these criminal illegal aliens out of America.”
