How Was Your Experience Filing for a Green Card? USCIS Seeks Feedback

USCIS is seeking feedback to improve the online experience for those filing for adjustment of status.

“We want to hear from people who have experience filing the adjustment of status package under the immediate relative or family preference categories,” USCIS stated. This includes individuals who have petitioned to bring family members to live in the U.S. (Form I-130, Petition for Alien Relative), applied for a Green Card within the U.S. (Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status), or are planning to do so in the next year.

To qualify for the study, participants must be at least 18 years old, physically present in the United States, proficient in English, have access to a tablet, laptop, or desktop with internet access, and have filed for adjustment of status within the past two years or be preparing to do so (Form I-130 and/or Form I-485).

Participation involves a one-hour online session on Microsoft Teams with USCIS’s research team, which can be accessed through a laptop, tablet, or desktop. Webcam video sharing is encouraged but optional.

“Participation is voluntary and will not affect the outcome of any pending or future case you may have,” USCIS clarified. “We will not request any case-specific information as part of this study. We will request limited personally identifiable information, such as your name, phone, and email address, which we will remove before sharing your feedback with our internal development teams.”

Those interested in participating should email myuscisfeedback@uscis.dhs.gov with “Adjustment of Status Online Experience” in the subject line, confirming they meet the participation criteria. Selected participants will join a virtual one-hour session to discuss their experiences with filing for adjustment of status.

USCIS plans to conduct the sessions from Dec. 2-10, between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Eastern Time, and will accept responses until Nov. 29.
