For a standard 34-page passport renewal, the fee is $153 when paid via debit card and $150 plus a 3% processing fee for credit card transactions. Honorary Consul General Rishi Dhakal explains the application process and documents needed for appointments at the upcoming Nepali Consular Service Mobile Camp in Los Angeles.

Applicants must bring a prepaid return envelope with a complete address to receive their new passports. For further information, contact Rishi Punnakhar Dhakal, Honorary Consul General of Nepal in San Diego, at Cell No. (626) 320-2437 or the Nepali Embassy in Washington DC.

The mobile camp addresses the urgent need for consular services in California, where over a thousand Nepalis await passport renewal. The cost and time required to travel to Washington DC for renewal have been prohibitive for many, including the elderly, children, and individuals with disabilities.

Some green card holders, whose passports have more than six months of validity, opt to renew in Nepal due to the convenience and lower costs compared to traveling to Washington DC. The commitment to continue temporary consular services was reaffirmed in discussions with ambassadors and embassies, as stated by Honorary Consul General Rishi Dhakal in a recent interview with NepYork.
