The results of the Diversity Visa (DV) Lottery for 2025 have been announced. Participants can check their status online starting at 12:00 PM EST on May 4. Successful applicants will be eligible to receive their visas from October 1, and these visas must be secured by September 30, 2025, to avoid disqualification according to current regulations.
Entrants who applied between October 4 and November 7 last year can now check their selection. It’s crucial for DV 2025 applicants to retain their confirmation number until at least September 30, 2025, as it is necessary to check eligibility.
To confirm your DV status, you’ll need your confirmation number, surname, and year of birth. The US State Department’s official website is the only authorized platform to check your DV status, as fraudulent emails and scams have been reported.
If not selected, the screen will indicate so. Selected individuals will receive instructions for the next steps onscreen.
The DV Program, overseen by the US Department of State and established by the US Congress, allocates up to 50,000 visas annually to individuals from countries with historically low immigration rates to the US, as per Section 203(C) of the Immigration and Nationality Act.
Visas are proportionally distributed across six geographic regions, with a cap of seven percent per country each year. The US government does not provide direct notifications. The Entrant Status Check on the e-DV website, available from May 4 to September 30, 2025, is the sole source for application instructions.
