The Mithila Center USA is organizing the Mithila Festival USA in New York City from April 14 to 20. The festival aims to promote Mithila art and culture while supporting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Theme: Art for Sustainable Development Goals
This year’s theme, “Art Mithila Heritage for Sustainable Development Goals,” focuses on SDG 13 (climate action). The festival will raise awareness about climate change through Mithila art, encouraging education, public awareness, and improved institutional capacity.
Artist Call
Artists interested in showcasing their work can submit a sample of their painting that reflects this year’s theme, “Art Mithila Heritage for Sustainable Development Goals.” Additionally, artists should provide a brief introduction about themselves. Submissions, including both the painting sample and introduction, can be sent to mithilafestivalusa@gmail.com.
History and Goals
The first Mithila Festival was held in the US in 2019 with an exhibition at the UN headquarters. Organizers hope to continue this tradition and believe the festival will not only celebrate Mithila culture but also raise awareness about its role in achieving the SDGs.
