U.S. Nepali Credit Union Launches Debit Card, Offers No-Credit-Check Loans

Everest Federal Credit Union (EFCU), a financial institution serving the Nepali community in the United States, has introduced its first debit card. The debit card aims to enhance financial accessibility and convenience for its members.

The new debit card features a Mount Everest design. The press release from CEO Suman Raj Timsina stated that the introduction of the debit card is a step in EFCU’s efforts to provide banking solutions.

The debit card allows members to access funds from their Draft or Checking accounts for transactions such as shopping, dining, and bill payments. EFCU has formed partnerships with various businesses, including restaurants and grocery stores, to offer discounts to cardholders.

Established in 2018, EFCU offers a range of financial products. These include deposit accounts such as savings, checking, certificates of deposit (CDs), individual retirement accounts (IRAs), and student savings accounts.

EFCU’s loan offerings include credit-building loans, unsecured and secured loans, vehicle loans, business builder loans, and home equity loans.

Additionally, EFCU provides services like mobile deposit and payroll through its online banking platform and mobile app. The credit union offers bilingual support in English and Nepali, available seven days a week at its three service locations in New York, Ohio, and Texas.

With a new office planned for Northern Virginia, EFCU is expanding its presence. Membership is open to individuals with a valid government-issued ID, and borrowers must be legal residents or legally present in the U.S.

EFCU’s account-opening process can be completed online or in person. The credit union encourages individuals of Nepali origin and Nepali-owned businesses to join. EFCU operates under the regulation of the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), which insures deposits up to $250,000.

EFCU has received endorsements from Nepali organizations, businesses, and individuals. The credit union invites prospective members to explore its offerings.

Members and interested individuals are invited to EFCU’s Annual General Meeting, scheduled for August 16, 2025, at the La Guardia Plaza (DoubleTree by Hilton New York LaGuardia Airport). Registration for the event is required by July 31, 2025, and can be completed via the credit union’s website.
