More than 112,000 American tourists visited Nepal in 2025, according to the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB). The United States ranked as the second-largest source of foreign visitors to Nepal that year.

Data released by the NTB show that a total of 1,158,459 foreign tourists entered Nepal in 2025. India remained the top source market with 292,438 visitors, followed by the United States with 112,316 and China with 95,480.
Other major source countries included the United Kingdom (58,684), Bangladesh (57,545), Australia (49,357), and Sri Lanka (37,550). Thailand (30,243), Germany (30,227), and Japan (24,763) also ranked among the leading contributors.

In December 2025 alone, Nepal welcomed 98,190 foreign tourists. The month recorded 30,093 arrivals from India, 8,680 from China, and 7,077 from the United States. Bangladesh, Australia, and Thailand also contributed significantly to the year-end inflow.
The 2025 figure represents a 0.95 percent increase compared to 2024, when Nepal received 1,147,567 foreign visitors. In 2024, approximately 111,216 American tourists visited Nepal—an increase of 10.8 percent from 2023—again positioning the United States as the second-largest source market after India, which recorded 317,772 visitors.

Foreign tourist arrivals in 2024 marked a 13.1 percent growth from 2023 and brought Nepal close to pre-pandemic levels. In 2023, Nepal welcomed a total of 1,014,885 international tourists, including approximately 100,357 visitors from the United States. That year, the U.S. also ranked as the second-largest source market after India (around 319,936 visitors), ahead of China (around 60,878).
Compared to pre-pandemic levels in 2019, Nepal’s tourism recovery rate has now reached 96.8 percent. Despite challenges—including natural disasters and shifting travel trends—the Tourism Board described the 2025 arrival trend as “encouraging.” Nepal continues to attract global visitors with its iconic Himalayas, cultural diversity, and serene atmosphere.
