A Nepali documentary titled ZERO TO 8848, claiming the “Shortest Route from Zero to the Top of the World,” has officially premiered at AMC Theatres in Atlanta, USA. The film showcases Nepal’s stunning journey from its lowest point—58 meters above sea level—to the top of the world, Mount Everest. [Click here to watch the trailer.]
The inaugural screening took place on November 8, attracting distinguished guests and community members from across the region. Among the attendees were Senator Sheikh Rahman, Clarkston Mayor Beverly H. Burks, and Nepal’s legendary “King of Pop,” Om Bikram Bista.
ZERO TO 8848 highlights Nepal’s cultural diversity, breathtaking geography, and the growing impact of climate change on the Himalayas. The film traces a remarkable route—from the plains of Jhapa to the peak of Mount Everest—symbolizing the nation’s journey from “zero to the top of the world.”

The concept was developed by journalist and author Prem Baniya and directed by Niranjan Pandey, with Balram Budhathoki serving as co-director. Together, they present a captivating narrative that follows the adventurous journey along this extraordinary route.
The documentary features mountaineer Tendi Sherpa, who has summited Mount Everest 18 times; mountaineer, cyclist, and author Pushkar Shah; legendary rock climber, mountaineer, and author Conrad Anker; and climber Clay Wadman.
Produced by Zero to 8848 Entertainment, LLC, the documentary was co-produced by Kapil Sharan Wagle, Rajendra Pandey, Alex Parajuli, Sri Ram Wagle, Jay Narayan Sah, and Gobinda Gurung, with Sri Ram Wagle serving as Executive Producer. The estimated production budget was one million dollars, and the film runs for 1 hour and 46 minutes.
