In a tragic incident at the Great Miami River in Colerain Township, Ohio, Gopal Pradhan, a 49-year-old Nepali-speaking Bhutanese refugee, lost his life while fishing.
The incident occurred on Sunday, and after an extensive search operation lasting three hours, the rescue team recovered Pradhan’s body.
Pradhan was accompanied by a friend during the fishing trip. A mishap led to his death when he attempted to retrieve a bucket from the river. His body was later discovered by divers near Heritage Park, close to where he was initially fishing.
The Colerain Township Fire Department was the first to respond to the emergency, followed by multiple other departments, including police, emergency medical services, drone operators, and a dive team.
Pradhan had resettled in Cincinnati with his family, including his wife, daughter, and three sons, after immigrating to the United States from Nepal.
