New Ambassador of Nepal to Canada Presents Credentials

In a dignified ceremony at Rideau Hall in Ottawa on April 30, 2024, Bharat Raj Paudyal, the newly appointed Ambassador of Nepal to Canada, officially presented his Letters of Credence to  Mary J. May Simon, Governor General and Commander-in-Chief of Canada.

Following the formal presentation, Ambassador Paudyal was granted an audience with the Governor General, during which he extended greetings and best wishes from the President and Prime Minister of Nepal. He expressed Nepal’s desire for the continued health, happiness, and prosperity of Canada and its people.

The Ambassador discussed the strong bilateral relations between Nepal and Canada, emphasizing Nepal’s priorities such as the consolidation of democracy and the acceleration of economic development. He also highlighted Nepal’s efforts towards a smooth transition from Least Developed Country (LDC) status and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.

Ambassador Paudyal expressed gratitude for Canada’s ongoing support and committed to fostering closer ties through bilateral trade, tourism, investment, and technology transfer. He also stressed the importance of strengthening people-to-people relations and advancing an economically beneficial partnership.

The Governor General reciprocated with best wishes to Nepal’s leadership and congratulated Ambassador Paudyal on his accreditation. She expressed contentment with the excellent state of bilateral relations and assured full support from the Canadian Government to enhance these ties further.

The credential ceremony was attended by high-ranking Canadian officials, including representatives from Global Affairs Canada and senior officials from the Office of the Governor General. Ambassador Paudyal was accompanied by his spouse, family members, and officials from the Embassy of Nepal in Ottawa.
