Indra Jatra, one of the biggest festivals of the Nepali Newar community, is celebrated in New York. The program was organized by Newa Guthi New York.
The chariot processions of Shree Kumari, Shree Ganesh and Shree Bhairav, Lakhey, Pulukisi was the major part of the celebration. The festival is dedicated to the god of rain and king of heaven, Indra.
Indra Jatra festival is one of the most exciting and revered festivals of the Newar community. This also marks the beginning of a month-long festival season of autumn.
