U.S. Defense Official Highlights Strong Nepal-U.S. Partnership at Nepal Army’s Anniversary Reception

The Embassy of Nepal in the United States held a reception in Washington, D.C., to mark the 262nd anniversary of the Nepal Army. The event, hosted by Defense Attaché Colonel Purn Prasad Dhakal, was attended by diplomats, military officials, and members of the Nepali diaspora.

Dr. Andrew Byers, the U.S. Assistant Defense Secretary for South Asia, acknowledged Nepal’s significant contributions to UN peacekeeping missions. He emphasized the deep-rooted partnership between Nepal and the United States, highlighting their shared commitment to regional stability and security. Dr. Byers also commended the Nepal Army’s exemplary professionalism and dedication to fostering international peace efforts.

Colonel Dhakal welcomed the guests, reflecting on the Nepal Army’s storied history and its commitment to global peacekeeping, disaster response, and safeguarding Nepal’s sovereignty. He expressed pride in the Army’s longstanding role in advancing international peace and security.
