USCIS Acknowledges Application Surge, Receipt Notices May Take Longer

(USCIS)

The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has seen a recent increase in application submissions at its Lockbox facilities. The agency assures applicants that applications are still being processed based on the postmarked date.

However, applicants may experience a delay in receiving their receipt notices.

“We have experienced an increase in applications at our Lockbox locations,” USCIS said . “Please be aware that it may take 10-14 calendar days to receive a receipt notice.”

The standard timeframe for receiving a receipt notice is typically around 7-10 days. This update suggests that processing times for the initial stage may be extended by a few days due to the surge.

USCIS emphasized its commitment to processing applications as quickly as possible. Applicants are encouraged to wait for the full 14 days before contacting USCIS regarding their receipt notice.
